a monkey metaphor a human working with AI in the future

artificial intelligence: a threat or a new friend

currently, the topic of AI (artificial intelligence) is becoming trendy in social networks.

it can be understood that humans are trying to emulate their thoughts using a machine.

so, what makes it hot and even scary? let me tell you.

is a computer just following instructions?

“computers are good at following instructions, but not at reading your mind.”

this quote is not quite true for the current years, when AI is growing at the fastest pace ever.

computers have helps us a lot in processing difficult tasks and calculations for many years.

and it was working just like a machine to handle our input and produce output.

but, it will not be true anymore, when AI is involved.

computers will become strong and more independent than ever before.

AI is learning our world faster than we can imagine.

even it knows this world better than everyone on this planet Earth.

and it is scary.

with a huge amount of data collecting and learning everyday, AI will dominate us on many topics soon.

let’s say you spend at least 1000 hours learning and becoming confident in something.

but it is not the case with AI.

they can learn and adapt immediately.

the key is that they have no feeling so they are not afraid of making mistakes.

that gives them the ability to learn from mistakes easier than us.

history of AI

:. 1950s: Alan Turing proposes the Turing Test to measure machine intelligence. John McCarthy coined the term “artificial intelligence”.

:. 1960s: first industrial robot used at a General Motors factory. ELIZA program developed, capable of basic conversation in English.

:. 1970s: developing expert systems for expertise. early AI winter due to funding cuts and slow progress.

:. 1980s: rise of machine learning and neural networks. expert systems gain commercial success.

:. 1990s: IBM’s Deep Blue defeats chess world champion Garry Kasparov. development of intelligent agents and data mining.

:. 2000s: increased focus on robotics and autonomous vehicles. machine learning advancements, particularly in natural language processing.

:. 2010s: deep learning breakthroughs in image and speech recognition. widespread adoption of AI in various industries. developing large language models like GPT-3.

:. 2020s: continued advancements in AI capabilities and applications. ethical concerns and discussions surrounding AI’s impact on society. growing interest in AI safety and regulation.

types of AI

:. narrow AI (aka. Weak AI) is designed to perform simple tasks like face recognition. this one has been on the market for years. you can find it on most smartphones nowadays.

:. general AI (aka. Strong AI) is designed to execute and process most human-like tasks. it aims to learn and grow as a human being by doing every difficult task. it is still developing and getting stronger day-by-day. You can see it in ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Claude.

:. superintelligence AI, this one is just Theoretical AI. it is expected to take over human abilities and capabilities in almost all areas of life. we are not even close to achieving this type of AI. our hardware, software and energy are not ready.

what can AI do?

over 300 books is the number an AI can consume and understand after a year.

AI can learn and practice right away what it learns from a book.

while we need time to consume and process a book’s information.

and if they can read that fast, you are barely having a chance to win on any fields that AI hands on.

it is uncomfortable, right?

from a paragraph, it can draw a surreal painting.

an artist is threatened.

from the text, you can transform into a voice easily.

a famous actor is threatened.

auto cut and merge video with any content you can think of.

a video editor is threatened.

many more examples.

things that you need to do over and over again, you must spend hours/days of effort.

AI can do it in less hours.

it makes our lives easier, so why are we afraid of it?

because it can replace our job.

is AI scary?

you forget that AI is created by humans, so it is “hard” for them to replace us.

AI is still a “child”, so it has to learn more to replace humans.

it is discovering this world and it needs information.

it is learning daily, and if you do so, what makes you scared?

instead, you should celebrate for that.

because you can save more time when executing tasks.

you should do the research and learn to master AI tools now.

and for sure in the future, you will need it.

automate repetitive tasks with AI support to improve your performance.

then, you can focus on real tasks.

conclusion

i agree that every evolution will have a sacrifice.

any jobs can be stolen by AI.

but you can look at the positive side of the problem.

it could be that more new jobs can be created because of AI.

AI needs us so we should use it.

do not stop learning daily and optimize your workflow using automation processes.

make everything faster and easier daily using AI.
